Making Aerodynamics Accessible to the Airplane Modeler

Gyles AeroDesign develops software tools designed to assist airplane modelers in improving the performance of their designs. Understanding the aerodynamic behavior of a model is an important first step in improving its performance.

The AeroDesign ToolBox is a collection of useful software tools for the modeler who is curious about the flight characteristics of his model. Our aim is to keep the user interface as simple as possible while maintaining a rigorous approach to the aerodynamic calculations.

All of the AeroDesign ToolBox programs use a "spin edit" system for data input, where numbers can either be typed in directly or input using "spinners" activated with either the arrow keys or the mouse. Pull-down menus allow the selection of the most convenient units for the user.

To get a feel for the data input system, try the freeware lift coefficient calculator or the turn radius calculator. An important simplifying feature of these programs is that the calculated results are instantly updated to reflect the current input values without requiring additional user action.

The other programs in the AeroDesign ToolBox are offered as shareware and can be downloaded here. After the programs have been launched 10 times, you are required to register the programs for a nominal fee if you wish to continue using them.
